“February Recap”
The first calendar month of my Blog is coming to an end, so I wanted to do a quick recap of how things have gone thus far. The Blog is still less than a month old, but I thought it would be easier to review at month end. Here we go…
- My traffic has gone from zero to about 20 new hits per day. Nothing to brag about but it is going in the right direction.
- I have installed Google Analytics which I have written a post abut, I am very happy with the data I am getting from it.
- I have completed the first draft of the first chapter of my new eBook “The SEO Secret Revealed,” and I have posted the graphics to the site.
- I have written and submitted 15 articles linking back to this site that have generated quite a bit of traffic to the site. Two of my articles have been picked up by ezine publishers and republished.
- My articles are being read and redistributed. Two articles have received over 100 views, not bad for a week.
- I have identified several very good business opportunities for my readers in my research.
- And today I sent out my first newsletter to my subscriber list. I wrote it quickly, but I did include a free resource exclusively to subscribers, so I am very happy about that.
So all in all the site is going pretty good, I have been able to create loads of good solid content, if I do say so myself, and I am starting to get traffic as a result.
I have not made any money from people clicking on the AdSense links on the site. Once the traffic picks up more, if I don’t get clicks I am going to consider removing them and selling targeted advertising on my own. I have also let my eBay store sort of run on auto pilot and my sales are showing the effects of that, but I anticipated that so I am not too worried about that for the moment. So I am not surprised that income wise I have not made money online this month, actually I have lost, but it is temporary, and a cost of developing a new site. I am sure things will turn around in March.
I will probably start listing auctions for my information products on eBay again after the first, that will at least offset the cost of having my store on eBay. Traffic to the Blog is growing steadily and I should be over 100 new hits per day by the end of March.
So here is my online goal for the month ahead.
I am going to continue to promote the Blog through articles, comments on other blogs, comments in forums, and comments to articles. This has been a great source of traffic so far, and I am sure it will continue.
With that in mind I have been submitting two articles per day, and trying to read and comment on at least six other content sites. That equals at least 8 links to this site per day. I would like to have 100 articles submitted by the end of March.
Once I have more content available I would like to step up my efforts and get some link exchanges going. I am also going to attempt to guest Blog on at least one popular Blog this month, and that should also bring targeted traffic to my site. I don’t want to do that too early though; because, I want to have enough content posted to keep peoples attention once they get here.
I would like to have my eBook up and selling by the end of March, the trouble there is finding the time to do all the research and compiling that is required. I am pretty happy with the first chapter so far though.
In line with my focus on this Blog, I am going to research 5 gorilla keywords, and start focusing my writing and titles on them. Gorilla keywords is my own term, basically good key words that rank higher than the obvious ones, think gorilla warfare. That means I am going to have to start putting more thought into my writing, no more just typing away as the thought comes to me. In the long run that will pay off though, you will absolutely know why when you read my first chapter.
That’s all for now, just a random recap of the past month, I am happy with the progress made so far, and I am finding that I really enjoy writing, by the length of this post I am getting more prolific at it as well I suppose.
Until next time,
Rob
